Too Much to Ask?

I want a person who will love me for me.
For what I truly am, and not what he sees.
I need a friend who will always be there.
Who sits by my side and dries my tears.
Who will never leave me for anyone else.
Getting hurt again would be like killing myself.
I need a lover who's gentle and kind.
Not one who will rush or leave me behind.
Someone to get me through all this pain.
He's out there, somewhere, but still is unnamed.
I want a man who isn't a boy.
Someone to treat me like a person
Instead of his toy.
The man who I love will not be a fake.
The one I want won't make my soul ache.
Someone who will see past my scars,
Into my eyes and fall in love with my heart.
All I want is someone to care.
Is this too much to ask?
Isn't he out there?
